Now that's dedication…Football fans make 3,000-mile trip to watch Braintree Town lose 1-0
A GROUP of football fanatics visited Braintree Town Football Club… all the way from Israel. Perry Shaler, Oren Vilner, Guy Feffer, Stay Levi and Amit Noyman made the 3,000 mile journey to the Avanti Stadium to see the Iron play against Tranmere Rovers in the National Lague.
The trip is part of a venture called the Cinderella Men Project, which sees Israeli fans experience English lower tier football. Braintree lost 1-0, but the Cinderella Men were given a tour of the stadium and saw the first penalty taken since their journey began in 2010.
Mr Shaler said: “We wanted to get into the stadium as soon as we could to get some atmosphere. “The game was on the level we are familiar with in England – long balls and very tough match-ups. “The long term aim is to be remembered by doing this, I’m looking at it as a lifetime project.
“We want to visit as many football clubs as we can until we’re too old to do it.” A spokesman for Braintree Town said: “We gave them a warm welcome and they were in a great mood.”
